Armistice Day Party!

Today we ended our work on World War One, by celebrating the end of the war! Today at St. Anthony's was Armistice Day- we marched around the school declaring the end of the war, then had a special celebration in class.

We took turns to make toasts with our "champagne"; to the King and country, to those we had lost ('The Fallen'), to Great Britain...

Following the toasts and speeches, we listened to some music from 1918 and danced as they would have done in the Armistice Day parties held in London.

Some of the children even dressed in clothes that might have been worn in 1918.

This has been a fantastic topic, rounded off by a wonderful celebration of the return to peacetime (although we now know that it didn't last too long...).
