Contraction Surgery!

On Wednesday, St. George's Class was full of surgeons! We had important operations to complete- there were words that needed our help. They had extra letters that needed to be removed.

Firstly, we had to scrub for surgery.

Next, we had to identify which were the excess letters that needed to be removed. Then, we cut them out and added a bandage to hold the word back together.

As with any operation, there was a scar, which was in the form of an apostrophe.

Finally, it was important for the doctors to write up a medical report about the operation and the results they had seen.

Now, we will always remember that the apostrophe is the scar from where the extra letters have been removed!

first we cut up the wrong words like 'did not' and made it in to 'didn't' and we put a scar to represent the commas
