Snow boys and girls!

Take a look at our snow men (who were small so we decided they should be snow boys and girls!)- we made them using socks!

We spent lots of time turning a boring white sock into a lovely gift or decoration for our families.

Happy Hanukkah!

This week we have been learning about Hanukkah!

We loved these videos that helped us to learn the story of the Hanukkah Miracle of the Oil and taught us how to play Dreidel:

We made our own dreidels and found out what the symbols meant. We enjoyed playing the game so much that we carried on throughout wet play!

The Prince and the Pauper

On Thursday the whole of the Middle School hopped on the bus and went to the theatre! We had a fabulous day at the Unicorn Theatre, watching a play called 'The Prince and the Pauper'. The children's behaviour was fantastic and we all enjoyed the performance- there were some funny parts, some serious parts and some very entertaining sections of the story. We were intrigued by the ways the stage was used and how each actor played more than one part.

Myst Maps

Source: Myst Exile- Ubisoft/ Focus Multimedia Ltd.

After exploring Myst even further, we have started to design our own Myst lands. We thought about what we would see and hear there, which animals or plants we might encounter, what the weather would be like and what visitors to our land might do. Each child wrote a fabulous description of their new land and produced a brochure to persuade people to visit their land.

Following that, we worked in groups to produce maps of our new lands for Myst. Each group worked together to create a map of their island. We tried out a new material this week- we used inks and experimented with the different lines, marks and mixing techniques that we could make using ink.

Work in progress...

The final maps!

Fun Time!

We've been learning how to tell the time and how to work out the interval between one time and another.

Try this really cool game to practise your time skills!

Friendship Week Art Project

Our Friendship Week theme was an 'Ocean of Friendship' and we used 'The Rainbow Fish' as our focus book.

The whole of Middle School worked together to make a collaborative Rainbow Fish. Every child made a scale, using different fabrics, sequins and beads. We then put them all together to make this beautiful fish!

To accompany our fish, we worked in small groups and made these sea scapes using different types and textures of paper:
