Shoebox Habitat Science Project

Science Project

Our science topic this half term is ‘Habitats’. This homework project will help you to learn about one habitat in detail.

You need to make a shoebox habitat. We hope that you will put lots of effort into this project and use your creativity!

First choose one of these habitats (it may only be from these choices):

·         Forest

·         Sea

·         Polar

·         Rainforest

·         Desert

1.     Decorate the inside of the shoebox to look like your habitat.  For example a forest habitat may have trees and leaves.

2.     Then add 3D animals (models or pictures either printed or drawn) and plants.

3.     You must include at least 2 animals from your habitat and at least 2 plants that live in your habitat. Label the items in your habitat.

4.     The box should not be bigger than an adult sized shoebox.

5.     Label the items in your habitat.

6.     On the back of the shoebox,  attach a piece of paper with your name, the name of the habitat, where in the world you would find your habitat and what types of animals and plants you would find there.

This project will be your homework for the next 3 weeks.

It is due on TUESDAY 4th DECEMBER.

We will be running a club on Friday lunchtime for the next 3 weeks if any children would like some extra help with their shoebox habitat.
Remember to turn the shoebox on its side before you start! See below:
