We were very lucky to have a visit from Paul Newham, just before we broke up for half term. It was an excellent morning of experimenting with circuits. All of our knowledge about electricity and circuits was put to the test with a series of exciting challenges.
Paul told us that he is an inventor- he creates toys, but he could not make his toys without understanding how circuits work. We showed off all of the hard work we have been doing to learn about circuits with Mr. Croft and Mr. Peel. Paul was impressed that we could draw the correct symbols to draw a circuit like a scientist.

Firstly, we had to create a working circuit with just these three items. Can you remember how it worked?
As the session went on, we added more and more items to our circuits. We even made fans spin and buzzers buzz!
These were all series circuits. At the end of the lesson, Paul introduced us to a different type of circuit, which behaved differently. In this type of circuit, if one bulb or buzzer was removed, the others continued to work.
