A Very Strange Delivery...

On Friday, we received a special audio message from an inventor called Professor Templeton. He told us that he had sent us an important invention of his for us to test, but that we must keep it safe, as it was under threat from a saboteur.

The parcel arrived, airmail from the U.S.A. just before play. It was in a very heavy sealed box and was labelled 'FRAGILE'.

We wrote emails to the professor, to reassure him that his invention was in safe hands and ask him some questions to gather more information about the delivery and the mysterious saboteur.

However... on our return to class after play, we found that the box had been destroyed and the invention was gone! We came up with many theories about what might have happened and how a saboteur could possibly have got to the invention.

Next week, we hope to find out more and hear more from Professor Templeton. We don't think he's going to be very pleased to hear about the disappearance of his precious invention!

Season-Shifting at St. Anthony's!

On Friday at St. Anthony's, something very peculiar happened! We found a special letter from a Professor S. E. Asons, asking for our help in solving a very strange mystery.

After assembly, our class had received a scroll with a special clue and we all set about trying to solve the mystery...

We followed our instincts and found something very strange in the cupboard in our school hall...

The season had changed! Although it was a sunny July day, deep inside the cupboard it was winter! We saw snow, a frost-covered forest and even a little winter robin!

The Professor was baffled as to how this could have happened, so all of the children in the school wrote to him with their theory of who might have changed the seasons, how and why.

We came up with many interesting theories. Some children thought it was the Snow Queen, or global warming gone wrong, or Gary our chef (who was suspiciously absent that day!). Some children thought it might be Shakespeare, as we knew he had written a play called 'A Winter's Tale'. Others felt it could be penguins, or a yeti, who were looking for a new habitat.

A Fascinating Day Out!

On Friday, we went on an adventure! We went with the charity Thames Explorer, to investigate the foreshore of the River Thames at Bankside, in front of the Globe Theatre.

 We learned about how the quality of the water in the Thames has changed over time and did some experiments ourselves.

 Also, we had the opportunity to be 'mudlarks'! In the 18th and 19th centuries, some people (usually children) in London would scavenge in the river mud to look for anything they could sell. We had a chance at being mudlarks on Friday, during low tide.

After searching the river foreshore, we discovered all sorts of treasure! What was the most interesting thing you found?

Finally, we sorted the items we had discovered into groups and discussed what they might be and when they might be from.

A Very Exciting Day!

On Friday, we received a very exciting royal message at St. Anthony's. We were all surprised to find many mysterious keys around the school, however we were astonished that Her Royal Highness the Queen had heard about it! She had been told about our mystery at her 90th birthday party on Thursday.

Her Majesty requested that we investigate this mystery for her (and her Royal Keeper of the Keys). Each child needed to write to her, to let her know where we thought the keys had come from and what they might unlock.

What a Peculiar Week!

This week has been a strange one at St. Anthony's. On Wednesday night, tiny doors appeared around the school out of nowhere and nobody could explain why! A leading detective was onto the case straightaway, but he needed your help in answering these questions: Who are these visitors? Where did they come from? Why are they here?

After reading a letter from Detective Petitie, you all set out to solve the mysteries, and luckily you also wrote some excellent pieces of writing explaining what had happened. You were a big help to him in finding out what was going on.

We have been very impressed by your super pieces of work, but the mystery remains unsolved as of yet. What do YOU think goes on behind those tiny doors?
