Here's what they have to say about the spooky event:

"This Halloween weekend pack your sleeping bags, grab your PJs and torch and head over to Dulwich Picture Gallery for a spooktacular evening!
Pay a visit to the Gallery’s on-site haunted house, interact with the paintings brought to life by our mystery guests, and create a vintage-inspired Halloween print to take home. Bed down for the night amongst the old masters and wake up to breakfast and a classic film."

A Fabulous Trip!

The photos have arrived! Last week, Years 5 and 6 went on a fantastic trip to the Southbank, where we had the opportunity to broadcast with BBC Radio 3! What an opportunity!

We each had different jobs, such as; producer, presenter, newsreader or sound engineer.

We also had the chance to visit a wonderful art exhibition called, 'We Are All Human'. The artwork was spectacular- all created by people who were in prison. We heard their fascinating tales, heard the stories behind their artwork and had the opportunity to ask them questions.

It was a fantastic day!

St. Anthony's Art Exhibition

On Friday we were lucky to be able to visit our school Art Exhibition. We loved seeing our own artwork on display and admiring the wonderful creative work produced by all of the other classes in the school.

Which was your favourite artwork?

Our Class Museum!

Thank you to everyone who came to visit our St. George's Class Museum! The children were very proud to show off all of the hard work they have completed this half term. Be sure to ask them about the Ancient Egyptians- they are all experts now!

A Fantastic Trip!

At the end of September we spent a wonderful day at Dulwich Picture Gallery. We enjoyed a morning in the gallery, being guided by some very interesting teachers. We spent some time looking at a selection of the paintings in the gallery and learned the stories behind the pictures.

In the afternoon, we had the opportunity to make some art of our own. We looked at an incredible seascape by Ludolf Bakhuizen from 1696. After discussing the picture and looking particularly at the people featured, we began to make our own artwork.

We were lucky to have the opportunity to make a 3D project each; creating a wonderful boat. The first step was to cut out the template of the boat's hull.

Next, we folded it into shape and made a bench to keep the structure steady:

To make the boat eye catching, we covered it with a collage of printed paper (including some maps, stamps and fantastic patterned wrapping paper):

After that, we used the patterned paper to build a sail, wrapping it around a wooden stick for the mast, then we added a flag to the top. We used a ball of clay under the bench to hold the mast in place.

Once the sails were attached and the flags were flying, we used wire and more patterned paper to add bunting to the boats. The final step was to choose a name for the completed boats.

To end our workshop, our teacher asked us to think of a memorable journey we had taken. Some of us thought of holidays, some remembered visiting friends or family and some children even remembered their journey on their first day of school! We wrote these memories on tags and attached them to our boats.

Here are some finished boats, we're very proud of them- aren't they wonderful?!

Bottle Cap Art

Our bottle cap art project is developing at a super rate- here is the mosaic so far. Today we completed the layout and used glue guns (carefully!) to attach the bottle tops to the rug. We need a few more bottle caps to fill the gaps and we need to tidy up the edges of some of the sections, but it's coming along very well. It's looking fabulous!

Bottle Cap Art

At last we can reveal why you have all been collecting bottle caps for us! Thank you to everyone who saved bottle caps for us.

Yesterday we began our recycled art project. Using an old rug and lots of bottle caps, we're hoping to make a beautiful piece of art. We designed our mosaic and started to place the bottle caps into each section. Here are some pictures of the work in progress- super teamwork!

Next week, we will fill the gaps and carefully use glue guns to attach the bottle caps to the rug securely. We can't wait to show it off at the Summer Art Exhibition on 6th June!
