Kennings

Last week, we tried a new form of poetry in St. George's Class! We wrote some Kennings.

A Kenning is an interesting form of poetry that uses only 2 words on each line, with the second word ending in -er. It gives you lots of clues about the subject of the poem, by telling you what it does, or likes or looks like, but it doesn't tell you what the poem is actually about.

Can you be a super Kenning detective and work out what these poems by St. George's class are about?

Epic Citadel Directions

This half term we have been using Epic Citadel to inspire our writing! We have explored the empty town and written government reports about what happened to the people, written persuasive letters, created diary entries and descriptions and written stories set in the citadel.

Last week, we wrote directions for a partner to follow. We had to pick a location in the game to begin, then write a set of instructions to guide our partner to an end point. Then we swapped iPads and tried following our partner's instructions!

The Selfish Giant

Our production of The Selfish Giant will be performed on Tuesday at 9:30am for the school and at 7:00pm for your families and friends.

Remember that on Tuesday you will need to arrive at school between 6:15 and 6:30pm, in time to get changed and ready for the performance at 7:00pm. Make sure that you have something to eat before returning to school. Your parents, carers and families will go straight to the hall to get their seats and you will come into class.

We are all very excited- the rehearsals have been going brilliantly and we are sure that the play is going to be a huge success.
