Goodbye and Thank You!

It's time to say goodbye, Team. I've loved being your teacher and we've had so much fun in St. Clare's, but it's time for me to look after my baby now!

It has been fantastic being your teacher and I have loved every minute. Even the many, many minutes spent reminding you to tuck in your shirts. Yes, all the way round. No, don’t just pull down your jumper. We can always tell!

I would like to say a huge thank you to you all, and your wonderful families, for all of the lovely cards, drawings, letters, kind words, knitting and gifts that I received this week. You have all been so generous and I feel very overwhelmed by how much care you have shown me and the baby. Please say thank you for me to your parents, carers, grandparents, families and anyone else that needs thanking but might not see our blog!

I'll be popping in to see you regularly and I might even add some bits to the blog as the year goes on, so do check it every now and again. Everything already on the blog will be staying- so you can still admire your marvellous work, play your favourite games and watch all of the videos you've come to love.

I know you're going to have a wonderful year with Mrs Hopkins and Mrs Bennett- you lucky things!

We have had a wonderful year! It was very sad to see you all leave, but it has been a fantastic year and I am very happy to have been one of your teachers. Mrs Hopkins, Mrs Cook and I have loved teaching you all this year. We know you will all do brilliantly in Year 6!

I would like to say a huge thank you to you all and your parents and families for the beautiful cards, lovely messages and very generous gifts I have received from you this week. Thank you so much, I am very grateful.

A Very Generous Donation!

This week, we were incredibly lucky to have a special gift from The Dulwich Picture Gallery. We visited the M.C. Escher exhibition at the gallery last term and produced some beautiful artwork.

The Dulwich Picture Gallery have very generously given us a stunning piece of artwork, produced by our local community, which was inspired by the M.C. Escher exhibition. It is a spectacular mosaic metamorphosis made entirely from LEGO!

We all love our new artwork at St. Anthony's and feel very lucky to have it in our school!

During lunchtime on Wednesday, we put up some posters asking all of our children to write the first word that came to mind when they looked at the picture. Later that day, St. Clare's wrote sentences to explain our reaction to, or inspired by, the Lego masterpiece!

Next half term, we will hold a creative project inspired by our new artwork- linking Writing, Maths and Art- alongside other subjects! Hooray!

Our Class Museum!

Thank you to everyone who came to visit our St. George's Class Museum! The children were very proud to show off all of the hard work they have completed this half term. Be sure to ask them about the Ancient Egyptians- they are all experts now!

Cafe Marvellous, Part Two!

Well done to everyone in St. George's Class- today was another brilliant day at Cafe Marvellous! We had lots of special guests, including some of your parents and Mary from the Bread of Life Cafe. Thank you to everyone who has visited the cafe this week- we are very grateful!

Our Special Mexican Visitor

Last week we were very lucky to have had a visit from Paulina, who runs the Mexican Society at King's College University. She came to tell us all about life in Mexico and we learnt more in one afternoon than we could have possibly imagined!

Paulina has been a teacher for some years and kept us all interested and excited, with her Powerpoint presentation, props, food and her beautiful singing.

We tried some real Mexican salsa (which was green and spicy!) and some fantastic chilli sugar candy!

 We looked at some beautiful craft objects from different regions of Mexico:
